Review: Montagne Jeunesse 4 Week Regime

Hello!

So a little while back I had an email from the lovely Neil over at Montagne Jeunesse asking me if I wanted to try out the 4 week summer skin routine that they had come up with...I of course said YES! as I absolutely adore their face masks and had recently run out (I think they seem to know when I've just run out!) I really liked the idea of having a 4 week face mask routine to get my skin lovely and hydrated during Summer. (Obviously this has taken me a tiny bit longer than 4 weeks as I've had a few personal issues, but I did the last 3 weeks correctly! I just had a little gap between week 1 and 2 that's all.....)

So these are the four face masks to help my skin out....I'm not sure why I did them in a reverse order, clearly wasn't thinking clearly! I seriously love the packaging of all of Montagne Jeunesse's products. It's so bright and always cheers me up!

Week 1: Montagne Jeunesse say "start with a deep cleanse, the natural way. To help prevent unsightly blemishes, invigorate your skin with the 100% natural Montagne Jeunesse Blemish Mud (£1.09 RRP). With Aloe Vera, Willow, Rosemary and Witch Hazel, this special blend of nature’s remedies naturally targets problem areas for a clear, clean complexion."

This actually came in handy as it tied in with a time when I had lots of stress spots. Lovely. I'm usually more of a peel off mask kind of girl, but this seemed like a perfect way to start off the 4 week regime. It felt really nice and slightly cooling to my skin and it smelt nice too. Not too overwhelming. I'm always a bit worried about using something with witch hazel AND rosemary in, as I have both sensitive and dry skin (in places anyway!) so I always worry about it drying my skin out further, but this one left my skin feeling very smooth. It did leave it feeling a little tight, but a dab of my normal moisturiser fixed that in seconds (Body Shop Aloe Vera range fyi!)

Here is a frankly ridiculous picture of me with the mask on. I'm not quite sure why I look so psychotic here....apologies for that! I also used the mask in my eyebrows because I seemed to be getting a lot of spots in that area at the time. It didn't dry in them and cause me to loose stacks of eyebrow hair or anything so I would do it again if I felt I needed it. The only thing that bothered me about this mask was the fact that it stung my eyes a little bit when I first put it on. It's quite a potent mix but once it had been on for a minute there was no issue. I felt like this would be a great addition to someones skincare routine once a week if they suffered from regular breakouts, as it did leave my skin feeling softer and it calmed the redness from all my stress spots too! I personally don't think I would use this on a weekly basis but would definitely consider picking this up if I had any serious issues again! (plus the mud felt really nice to put on and didn't feel gross when it dried!)

Week 2: Montagne Jeunesse say "after a week in the summer heat, get fresh-faced with the Montagne Jeunesse Cooling Cucumber Peel Off Masque (£1.09 RRP). With juiced Cucumbers and full of Citrus goodness, this refreshing masque removes dead skin and impurities to revive your complexion as you peel the day away."

Oh the peel off mask stage! I LOVE the feeling of peeling a mask off. I find it kind of soothing! (Too weird?) Anyway, I'd had a 2 week gap between the first week and this one (I had some major issues and basically moved out of the house I was in within a few hours. Props to one of my friends from work for coming over with her boyfriend to help me move boxes from the house to the car. Lifesavers!!) Anyway, back home I had to move into the spare room as my old room is currently being decorated (can't wait til it's finished! This room is a box room with a single bed.....where am I suppose to keep all my nail polish?! Haha!) So I had to make the decision of what I really needed to take out of boxes or every day (hint: clothes, make-up and nail polish. Plus a good few books!) and what I could leave in boxes in a small pile downstairs (it kills me that my PS3 is just sat there....so cold and alone!) So after all that, I decided my first day off would be a complete pamper day. Cue the peel of face mask. I liked the fact that it's an "anti-stress" mask! I needed that! Now then, I'm a big fan of Montagne Jeunesse's Passion Peel Off Masque so I was a little sceptical that this one could live up to the gorgeous feel/smell of that one. However, I was pleasantly surprised! It actually smelt really nice. I was determined to actually leave this on for long enough to actually dry completely for once in my life! (I usually go to peel it off and end up with a sticky mess on my face!) This left my face feeling completely and utterly clean and just felt so good to peel off at the end of a long and stressful weekend.

So here is a beautiful picture of my stressed out face. You can see the multitude of stress spots all over, which is lovely.... I love how this mask goes on so easily but I do always do a double check to make sure there aren't any areas of thick gloopy mask on my cheeks. I do find that I get left with some in the packet too, which feels a like bit like a waste but I'm not that fussed really.

This is a beautiful (ha!!) picture of my face once the mask had dried completely. You can see that it was so dry that I literally couldn't my face! (Hence the non-smiling creepy look I've got going on there!) It felt so nice to be able to peel this off in one go! It left my skin feeling completely smooth and soft and helped remove all the dead skin cells on my dry patches. I just love these masks so much and I love how they just make my face feel lovely after using them! I would definitely buy this again for a weekly treat!

Week 3: Montagne Jeunesse say "as the temperature goes up, cool things down with the exhilarating Montagne Jeunesse Iced Crystal Masque (£1.09 RRP); an exfoliating facial infused with cooling Spearmint to cleanse and tone skin, Dead Sea Salt to remove impurities and Sweet Almond and Jojoba oil to hydrate the skin, leaving it soft, smooth and cleansed."

I've never actually used an exfoliating mask before so this was going to be a completely new experience. I have used Montagne Jeunesse's exfoliating body scrub before though and I was a little disappointed by how much was left in the packet (you could feel all the apricot kernels left in the packet!) so I was hoping this wouldn't be the same. However, it was exactly what happened. It's not like I didn't have enough product for my face...but still...I find it a little frustrating for some reason. Anyway, this one is REALLY cooling! It's got small bits of sea salt for the exfoliating property and has a fairly strong spearmint smell to it. I love spearmint so this isn't a problem for me, but some might find it a bit too much. I really liked this mask, but after about 5 minutes it started to tingle a little bit and after 10 it was a bit too intense for me to want to keep it on any longer. The sea salt is a nice way to exfoliate your skin without being too intense.

Lovely face again...you can see that there was quite a lot of mask for me to use and once I'd massaged it in I probably should have smoothed it out a little more! It was easy to wash off and gave my skin a little more exfoliation as it came off. Unfortunately, I did get some in my eye when washing off (because I'm an idiot!) and it did sting quite a bit....however, not as much as I thought it would and my eye was fine after a quick wash. This might be an odd perk, but it's always handy to know just in case right?? I did like this mask, but the tingling was a bit of a worry for me due to my sensitive skin, so I don't think I'd buy this. It did leave my skin feeling smooth but I just wasn't wowed by it really.

Week 4: Montagne Jeunesse say "after a week of fun in the sun, complete your regime with a serious boost of hydration with the Montagne Jeunesse Very Berry (£1.09 RRP). Brimming with the juice of pressed blueberries and crushed cranberries, this delish masque is naturally rich in antioxidants. Vitamin rich blueberries help clear troubled skin, and yummy super-fruit cranberry boasts Omega’s 3, 6 and 9 plus natural oils help avoid premature ageing. "

I'm going to start off by saying that this mask smelt AMAZING!! It smelt good enough to eat (obviously I wouldn't....but I was seriously tempted! Haha!) It was so nice to put on and my skin was feeling a bit dehydrated at this point, so I was quite pleased about this one being the final mask on my list (I figured the natural oils would help with hydration) It's a really lovely purple colour too, which felt like a nice end to my summer skin regime. It was easy to use and there was lots in the pack so I pretty much just lathered it on!

Ok, so ignoring the paint swatches in our living room....here is the lovely smelling mask on. I left it on for the full 15 minutes as it didn't tingle or sting at all. It dried a little bit but not so much that I felt my face cracking (unlike the blemish mask, which dried quite a bit) This felt super nice on my skin and left it feeling completely hydrated and soft too. I would buy this as a mask to use every week I think as it actually completely cleared up my dry skin on my cheeks and the next day they were feeling amazing and not flaky at all! Out of all the mask this was my favourite (sorry peel off mask!) and I was incredibly impressed with how nice it felt! The perfect end to a face mask regime!

So what did I think of this 4 week skincare regime? I genuinely really liked it! I wasn't a huge fan of the exfoliating mask but it did still leave my skin feeling really soft and smooth, so it was worth it! At the beginning of the regime my skin was utterly shocking and needed some help to sort itself out. I know that face masks can't fix everything but I really do think that this regime did help my skin an awful lot. Plus I've always wanted to actually use a face mask every week, but I'm useless at actually doing things like that unless I have a specific reason to. I would be very interested in buying something like this as a little kit to kick start me into doing a proper regime. However, I also love the fact that I can buy all their masks on their website and also in a lot of stores (Superdrug, Asda, Boots, Tesco and even New Look!) so I can do a little mix and matching for my own 4 week regime (or 6 week.....or 8 week....) I love the fact that I can sleep easy knowing that all of their products are vegetarian-approved, made from natural ingredients and paraben-free, this gves me confidence that my sensitive s! Also the fact that "Montagne Jeunesse is proud of its uncompromising natural credentials and ethos for ‘Conservation of Energy, Protection of Animals and the Environment.’" makes me feel a little bit more shiny when using the products.

I think that Montagne Jeunesse have won me over yet again with another fab set of face masks!

What do you guys think of doing a 4 week face mask regime? Do any of you religiously use a face mask every week? Can anyone recommend any ones that you think I should try?

Until next time,
xoxo

Disclaimer: Although these were a PR sample, all reviews and opinions are my own and (clearly!) in my own words! Although I do love a good face mask, as always, my reviews can't be brought...unless you want to offer me millions of pounds...then maybe I'll consider it ;)
